What You Need:
- 15g of Bliss coffee, medium to medium-coarse grind
- 250ml of boiled water
- Hario V60 Cone
- Filter Papers to match
- Scales
Brewing Steps:
- Boil your water.
- Grind 15g of your favourite Bliss coffee to the right consistency.
- Rinse your V60 filter with hot water in the mug or carafe you're brewing into. Toss the rinse water.
- Add your coffee to the V60, evening out the surface.
- Zero out your scale with the V60 setup, then pour 45ml of water in a gentle spiral, soaking all the grounds.
- Pause for a 30-second bloom, giving the grounds a soft stir to ensure even soaking.
- Continue pouring the rest of your water (up to 250ml) in a slow, spiraling motion. Aim for even coverage.
- Finish brewing around 3min 30sec to 4min.
Pro Tips:
- Getting the pour right takes a bit of practice, especially with different kettles. Aim for a steady, controlled flow.
- Stirring the final brew helps avoid stratification, where layers of different flavours develop because water extracts coffee at different rates. A final stir merges these layers for a balanced taste.
- Invest in a goose neck kettle if you want to do this brewing method regularly.
Happy Brewing.
